The Day I Learned to See Far

Hi there! I’m Jamie, a 2nd-year middle school student. Today, I want to share with you how I learned the importance of “seeing far.” It all started during last summer vacation...

"Jamie, wake up! We're going to Grandma’s house today!"

I was woken up by my mom’s voice. Oh, that’s right. Today was the day we were visiting my grandmother in the countryside.

When we arrived at Grandma’s house, she greeted us warmly. "Jamie, come here. I have something to show you."

Grandma led me to the backyard. There, I saw a huge telescope.

"This was your grandfather’s telescope. He used it to look at the stars."

Curious, I looked through the telescope. Wow, things that were so far away appeared so clear!

Grandma said, "Jamie, just like this telescope, you need to learn to see far in life. That’s how you can make good decisions."

I tilted my head in confusion. "How do I do that, Grandma?"

She smiled and said, "Well, imagine we’re going on a picnic tomorrow. How would you prepare?"

Excitedly, I answered, "I’d pack food and a blanket!"

"That’s great. But what if it rains?"

Oh, I hadn’t thought of that.

Grandma continued, "That’s what it means to see far. It’s about thinking ahead and preparing for what might happen. But remember, you can’t predict everything perfectly. That’s why it’s also important to stay flexible."

That night, as I lay in bed, I thought about what Grandma had said. Seeing far means imagining the future and getting ready for it. But at the same time, I shouldn’t forget to enjoy the present.

So, friends, since then, I’ve been practicing how to see far. I study for tests ahead of time, and I’ve started saving a little bit of my allowance.

But I also remember not to forget to enjoy the moment. When I play with my friends, I have a great time!

Seeing far isn’t just for adults. We can do it too. And when we do, our future will be even brighter. Now, it’s your turn. How do you think you can see far?
